Notes about the .94 version and before

It is, of course, best to keep up with updates as they are released. Each version is tested for updating data from the previous version to be sure that that process works smoothly.

But, the general update process should work as expected if you have skipped an update and with .94 and prior versions. You can follow the process outlined in the documentation for updating where you export the data from your version to the various .mer files then use the update import process to bring that data into your new version.

.94.10 NORTHSTARDB REPORTS NOTE:

The changes in NorthStarDb for .94.10 include minor changes to the NorthStarDBReports file. If you have added custom reports to this table do not replace this table. You will want to make minor scripting changes in the NorthStarDBReports file.

.94.10 NORTHSTARDB PASSWORD NOTE:

Prior .94.1 used only the built in FileMaker user and password login process. Newer versions use both the FileMaker password system and a custom programed system. As a result, in the 'user names' and 'passwords' can not be automatically moved to the new NorthStarDb version.

In .94.1 and later versions of NorthStarDb the login process is changed to use both a hidden set of FileMaker security settings and another set of NorthStarDb user names and passwords which is held and processed inside the database. Any new user names you have added to the NorthStarDb users list in settings will will be retained and used in the update.

FILEMAKER 9 ERROR NOTE.

NorthStarDb .94.10 has been tested and works well with FileMaker 9. Previous versions of
NorthStarDb may cause an error when opened with FileMaker 9. The error states that the file is
damaged and needs to be recovered. Updating your NorthStarDb to NorthStarDb .94.10 resolves this issue.

Version checking in some versions of NorthStarDb released prior to FileMaker 9 being released do not identify FileMaker 9 files as valid for use with NorthStarDb. Update to the current version of NorthStarDb Using your version of FileMaker (8 or 8.5) prior to using NorthStarDb with FileMaker 9.
