Email is an important communications tool for most organizations. After exploring a number of options including using the internal FileMaker email ability and using third party FileMaker plugins with NorthStarDb 1.0 we have chosen a third path.

NorthStarDb can send email to one person or a small number using its built in email capability. This uses a local email tool such as Outlook to send the email. This works well for short notes to a small number of contacts but isn't a good call for large contact lists.

By clicking on the email icon next to a Contacts email access will let send a single email to that contact using you local email program.
(Note: Single email and the email to found set option requires a local email program and will not send through Web Mail.)

NorthStarDb 1.0 includes an Email pull down menu with two options,

• Send email to Found set - This option lets you send an email to a small found set using FileMakers built in email scripting and your email program.

• Export email list - this option lets you export you current found set for use in an external bulk email tool such as MaxBulk
  Mailer.

NorthStarDb has no relationship with the MaxBulk Mailer folks. MaxBulk mailer is a suggestion because it works on both Mac and Windows and provides a good set of tools for usign bulk e-Mail. You can find more about it at http://www.maxprog.com/MaxBulk.html

The Email Export should create a file that will work with most any external bulk email tool including uploading to the kind of email tools that web hosts such as 1&1 provide as part of their hosting
packages.
